南高梅，皮薄、果核小、果肉柔軟、甜味鮮美、外表渾圓美麗；因日本人習慣以中價梅浸梅酒，貪其性價比高，故多以屬中價梅的南高梅浸泡。

另外，相對中國產青梅，南高梅沒有難以入口的青澀味道，亦有飽滿的果汁，更有天然的甜味。
