Okayama Shine Muscat grapes (シャインマスカット) are also known as muscat grapes and are considered the top-tier Shine Muscat variety. Only Shine Muscat grapes grown in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, can be called "Hareou" (晴王), which means the highest grade of Shine Muscat grapes.
The National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations (Zenkoku Nōgyō Kyōdō Kumiai Rengōkai, abbreviated as "Zenno") Okayama headquarters has registered the "Hareou" trademark. These popular Japanese Shine Muscat grapes are known for their rich muscat aroma, fragrant and refreshing sweetness, lasting green grape fragrance, plump and sweet berries, and firm, chewy flesh.
Okayama Prefecture, with its low rainfall, is known as the land of sunshine. The grapes are grown one bunch per branch, producing Hareou grapes that are delicately sweet and sour with an unforgettable texture. The large, crisp grapes have an intense grape aroma that fills your mouth. Shine Muscat is loved because it is seedless and very sweet. Each grape weighs about 15-17 grams, with a high sweetness level around 18 to 20 degrees Brix.
